An Afternoon with Miss Potter

June 8th, 1895 – “I remember that we had only one shower of rain and went to four tea parties, that I took about thirty photographs and collected many fossils, that the meadows were white and pink with daisies and clover, that the sky-larks sung gloriously, and that Caroline was exasperated with the martins who began to build in five different places.”

The Tale of Peter Rabbit became a children’s classic, but volumes of Miss Potter’s writing remained a secret until long after she died. We draw from The Journal of Beatrix Potter, originally written in a code that remained unbroken until 1958, as we celebrate Miss Potter’s greatest talents – her keen observation and a love for nature that inspires future artists to this day.
